Vishweshwar Bhat's travelogue

Friends,

Vishweshwar Bhat's 15th book on his 14-day, four-country tour with thePresident, A.P.J. Kalam, was released by the Governor at Raj Bhavan on May 9.

Manu Baligar, who introduced the book, quoted an interesting anecdote fromthe book: When a girl in Switzerland passed a piece of paper to Kalam forhis autograph, the long-haired man did not how to sign without a support.Kamaal hai, the Swiss President bent to offer his back for Kalam saab tomake the job easy.

Simplicity begets simplicity?

The President, Bhat said, attended over 160 programmes during his 14-daytour. It was so hectic Bhat could not even bring home a piece of chocolate.Ravi Belegere likened Bhat's writing to that of Bernard Henri Levy, theauthor of Who Killed Daniel Pearl, which according to him, is a must-readfor journalists. He said this is the best travelogue he had come across.Has any of you read it already?

Bhat's book, brought out by Sundara Prakashana, is priced at Rs. 95.

Tingala atithi

Dear Friends,

The Tingala Atithi event that happened yesterday at Press Club was a good show. As usual it got started one hour late but Mr. Suresh Kulkarni's speech was amazing and he took all of us to the Nastalgic ear of the good old Hindi film industry.

And also compared the reporting pattern about the films in the olden days and in the recent past. I hope all the members who attended were got something out of his speech. Mr. Basavaraj Hongal, who got Madhyam Academy award was felicitated by Mr. Suresh Kulkarni.

My Special Request to all the members...Please come on time to the meetings..if you cant make it, please take five mins out of your busy schedule and write a single line mail saying that you cant come. Coz yesterday Suresh Kulkarni was the first person to come for the meeting and none of our members were there to receive him there at the press club....I trust this wont repeat in future.

Thanks to all for your co-operation.....

Thanks and Regards,

Tingala Atithi

Hi all,

Today (12th sept) Kavipavi members had a great interaction with G.M. Shirahatti, former directer, Doordarshan, Bangalore. Mr Shirahatti shared experiences of his long career with Doordarshan and Akashvani.

He made vary good comparison of how TV and Radio programmes were being produced in past and how they are being produced now. His talk was vary humourous and all of us had a great fun. His 'pakka' north Karnataka style of speaking gave us a feeling that we are not in Bangalore, but we are in Hubli-Dharwad itself.

On the occasion, `mirchi, bhaji, mandakki' programme was organised by our general secretary Hanumesh Yavagal ang Prashanth Chittaragi. 'Ellaru hotti tumba mirichi, Bhaji, chummari chapparisutta tindru....'. Thanks to Hanumesh sir and Prashanth sir.
